Perimenopause and Menopause Evaluation

Welcome! If you're navigating the transitions of menopause or seeking help with the many new challenges faced in midlife, you've found a practice that truly understands. Our integrative concierge practice offers a different kind of care – one that uses medical expertise as the foundation for a highly personalized and holistic approach to optimizing your health in midlife.

Why Choose a Board-Certified Internist?

In today’s society, we are overwhelmed with an abundance of conflicting information and unqualified sources on menopause that can make it difficult to know where to turn for reliable support.  As an Internal Medicine physician and Perimenopause and Menopause specialist, I prioritize providing my patients only the latest evidence-based guidance for their individual health concerns.  My treatment plans combine the latest in menopause research with medical treatment of the whole body, including metabolic health, mental health, and bone health.  Treatment is individualized, and patients often require a combination of hormone and non-hormonal interventions to optimize their health during the menopause transition and beyond.

As I don’t profit from the individual sale of any interventions or medications, I am motivated only by providing my patients the most reliable and safest treatments for their specific health concerns.  Direct physician access and unrushed appointments allow me to partner with you to ensure you feel supported and empowered to navigate this chapter of your life with confidence, grace, and success.

FAQ

  • For your first appointment, Dr. Kumar highly recommends booking an in-person visit.  She performs a detailed physical assessment, including a pelvic exam (Don’t worry - It’s much more comfortable than a traditional pap smear!).  A face-to-face visit sets the stage for a comfortable and trusting relationship between the doctor and patient.  Subsequent visits can be completed virtually (via secure video conference) or in-person at her clinic.

    • Yes!  Dr. Kumar is available for home visits for new patient evaluations to Houston neighborhoods including the Memorial, River Oaks, Heights, Bellaire, and West University areas for an additional fee. If you would like to schedule an in-home consultation, please book a meet and greet with Dr. Kumar for more information.

  • As a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Kumar has extensive experience in primary care medicine.  She provides basic preventive care services and management as part of her comprehensive care for patients who do not have a separate PCP.  For management of more complex chronic conditions, she may need additional visits to allow appropriate management., This will be discussed at the time of consultation.  She also works closely with her patients’ PCP’s and Ob-gyn physicians to coordinate care.

  • No, Dr. Kumar does not profit from the sale of any medications, supplements, or unproven procedures.  She works closely with her patients to help them understand their options based on their individual priorities, insurance coverage, and budgets.  Because she uses evidence-based proven medicine to direct her care, most medications are FDA-approved and may be covered under insurance benefits.

  • Although each individual’s health journey is unique and requires a different level of support, Dr. Kumar recommends that patients plan to work with Dr. Kumar for at least 6 months to 1 year in order to allow her to effectively create and implement a collaborative and integrative plan for optimal midlife health.
